The Center for Legal Support to Local Government is a
non-governmental non-for-profit organization set up in June 2002. The Centre
exists to help municipalities of the Russian Federation, as well as municipal
establishments and enterprises, public territorial self-management structures
and regional governments, by offering them professional legal
services.
Working with and for municipalities, the Center strives:
• to improve legal mechanisms of local self-government
functioning
• to eliminate the cases of violation of rights and lawful
interests of local self-government
• to assist in the improvement of local legal acts, as well as
federal and regional laws regulating local government issues
• to assist in excluding from legislation of provisions
inconsistent with the law on local government
• to popularise and promote legal mechanisms of defending rights
and lawful interests of local self-government
• to assist in education and training of lawyers working in the
field of municipal law
With professional team of experts embracing leading higher
education institutions and bodies of state power representatives,
practicing lawyers and members of the bar, the Center provides the
highest level of services even to smallest municipalities in
Russia, covering the broadest range of legal issues.
